Today, was dedicated to chess, and the Associates Board of Chess-in-the-Schools decided to have its meeting over brunch. The Smith is a spot located on 3rd Ave. between 10th and 11th streets in the East Village that has some entrees to speed up recovery from Saturday night transgressions.
Assorted Breakfast Pastries - bread, donuts, muffins and croissants |
Ranchero Scramble - chipotle salsa, black beans, tortillas, cheddar, advocado |
The Ranchero Scramble I had was pretty bland. The salsa needed more kick. I was overall unsatisfied with my dish.
Country Breakfast - cheddar grits, grilled ham steak, biscuit, gravy |
Potato Waffle Benedict - eggs, caramelized onions, potatoes |
Steak and Eggs - Steak, eggs (duh!) |
Kristine got them steak and eggs. I wanted to go with steak and eggs but thought that the ranchero scramble would have more flavor. WRONG!
Overall, The Smith's food is decent at best. I'd rate it a C+. You can tell by the lack of enthusiasm characteristic of this blog.
Maven out!
